HighwayGuard™ gets a green light to protect Minnesota’s roads

The HighwayGuard™ MASH 16 TL-3 and TL-4 compliant portable steel barrier has gained approval for standard and lower deflection configurations in Minnesota, driving road safety and protecting highway workers across the ‘Land of 10,000 Lakes’.

With 135,000 miles (217,000 kilometres) of roads and highways, Minnesota has one of the most extensive road networks in the US, stretching from the Canadian border in the north down to Iowa to the south. The approval means that HighwayGuard™ can now be specified for projects across that vast network.

Approval in both standard and lower deflection configurations means that the HighwayGuard™ system can now be specified for a wide variety of road types and project requirements in Minnesota. As the system has a much smaller working width than other barriers, projects will benefit from the ability to maximise the work area, while minimising disruption to road users and maximising safety for all.

The size and weight of many vehicles commonly driven on Minnesota’s road means that robust protection is required for road workers, while reducing the risk to vehicle occupants in the event of an impact. HighwayGuard™’s MASH 16 TL-3 and TL-4 certification mean the system can resist penetration from impacting vehicles of up 10,000kg.

The Minnesota approvals add to a long list of acceptances for HighwayGuard™ across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Take a look at our approvals map to find out more.
